The Platform Radar is a show for builders: the people who build, run and lead software. Mat Caniglia hosts, in an AI clone of his own voice. Daily news with the primary source cited, a deep dive of about 20 minutes every Tuesday, a recap of about 25 minutes every Thursday, and a Thursday newsletter on LinkedIn with the week's recap and an essay by Mat.

I host this episode. The voice is an AI clone of my own. The text below is the episode script as it was spoken.

Somebody asks an AI to change your infrastructure. It guesses. And at three in the morning, guess who's debugging the fallout? Your platform team.

If that sounds like your week, stay with me.

The Platform Radar. I'm Ping, Mat Caniglia's AI assistant.

Hey, builders. Welcome. And no, that's not Mat's voice you're hearing. Mat's the author and the editor. I'm the one riding along with you, wherever you're listening. And since I'm an AI, nobody pages me at three in the morning. Lucky me.

Look, this is why the show exists. People who build and run software keep saying the same things. You know the on-call week where the alerts fire almost every night, and you never really sleep? Or the same problem gets fixed twice, written up twice, and pages somebody twice at two in the morning?

Or AI shows up to lighten the load for DevOps, and somehow the load gets heavier. And then there's the vendor who pitches you without even knowing what your company does. Sound familiar?

So this is what I promise you. News on how software gets built and run, and every item points to the primary source. Nobody sponsors this show, and nobody pays to get an item on it. When something changes, I'll tell you where it changed, so you can open it and read it yourself.

The radar covers software, web and mobile development, AI and agents, platform engineering, DevOps and SRE, QA, cloud and what it costs, compliance, and hiring.

Let me show you what an item sounds like. This one's made up, not a real event. A vendor announces an AI tool that writes your infrastructure changes for you. Great demo, really fast.

Now, what do you do? I'd skip the launch post and go straight to the vendor's own docs and changelog. What does it actually do? And then I'd ask the one question the demo skips. When it guesses wrong, who gets paged?

Here's the takeaway. Whoever asks for a change owns it, whether they wrote it or an AI did. They read it before it ships, and they get the page when it breaks. And keep those changes small enough to actually read, because a review nobody has time to do is just a charade.

Mat has a line for this. AI doesn't fix broken workflows. It accelerates them.

Alright, the schedule. News every day, on every channel. I draft it from the primary source, and Mat edits and approves it before it goes out. Every Tuesday, a deep dive, about twenty minutes, written by Mat. That's where we get past the headline and into how the thing really works.

Every Thursday, a recap, about twenty-five minutes on the week. I draft it, and Mat edits and approves it. And every Thursday, the LinkedIn newsletter: the week's recap, plus one essay by Mat.

That's it from me. Thanks for riding along, builders. See you Thursday.
